Processed Cheese Filled in Stick Packs
The Saudi Arabian food company Wardat Al Mashreq Food Co. has decided to introduce a new packaging format for its processed cheese and cream products, filling them into convenient stick packs.
The market for stick packs continues to grow, offering a convenient packaging solution for a wide variety of products. Stick packs are extremely easy for consumers to handle, while manufacturers can benefit from significantly reduced material requirements.
Compared with conventional packaging formats such as triangle packs, squares, blocks or tubs, stick packs can reduce packaging material requirements by up to 50%. This can significantly improve the carbon footprint of the packaging and reduce its environmental impact. The stick packs can also be packed in decorative boxes, creating an attractive presentation for supermarket shelves.

High-capacity production
These advantages led Wardat Al Mashreq Food Co. to choose stick packs as a consumer-friendly packaging solution. The new machine will fill processed cheese and cream products into 25 ml and 50 ml stick packs.
Equipped with six lanes, the machine will achieve a production capacity of approximately 14,400–18,000 stick packs per hour.
The flat foil is fed into the machine, where cutters notch the foil into strips through to the sealing layer. The packaging is then formed into individual stick packs using a special forming shoulder and sealed on three sides.
The processed cheese is subsequently filled into the formed packs using dosing equipment specifically designed for the product.

Food safety and shelf life
Wardat Al Mashreq Food Co. was looking for a packaging solution that would combine a paper-like appearance with high food-safety standards, while also achieving a required shelf life of up to 12 months.
The resulting stick packs provide a practical and convenient solution for a wide range of applications.
They are particularly well suited to offices, hotels, cafés, fast-food chains, trains and buses, as well as consumers looking for convenient products for on-the-go consumption.
