Reduced lead times as Selig Group consolidates U.K. product lines

Selig, the leading worldwide manufacturer of tamper evident induction seals and closure lining materials, has recently completed a long term strategic review of its entire product portfolio to better serve its customers.  The result is a consolidation of several of its Slough, U.K. plant offerings into a more industry focused product range.  This is allowing the company to make significant improvements to its lead times for product delivery.

Selig Europe Marketing and Service Director, Darren Dodd, explains, “Over the years our range of induction seals and closure liners has grown to become one of the most comprehensive in the packaging sector.  Inevitably, this has meant that over time we have significant duplication in the product range.  Following our strategic review, we have taken the decision to gradually  phase out certain products produced in the U.K. and replace them with our new generation of seals , which offer superior levels of performance, functionality and reliability.  Simplification of the product range will also afford benefits in SKU reduction for Selig’s customers. We are working with the small number of customers that might be affected by this decision, to help them manage a phased changeover to minimise any potential impact on their business.”

An important advantage of the product line consolidation will be a significant reduction in lead times.  “We can already supply faster than our competitors for most of our standard materials”, points out Darren Dodd.  “The elimination of some products will help us improve our service level at our European manufacturing centre in Slough, UK, reducing lead times across the product range for our customers. We’re forecasting average despatch times from receipt of order being an industry leading four weeks or less, with improvements as discontinued lines are phased out.”
