New Split Core Transducers from Telcon
Telcon International Ltd has recently strengthened its management with intention of driving he company forward. As part of this, the company is working with global partners to bring new products to the market. The first of these new products is a range of split core (opening) current transducers that cover the measuring range of 100mA to 1000A all in the same package. All units can be DIN rail mounted or panel mounted with the adapter supplied.
By using innovative Flux Gate technologies, a low current range of 100mA, 200mA, 300mA, 400mA and 600mA transducers are available. Despite having a bore diameter to accept conductors up to 25mm, smaller cables can be used without loss of accuracy. These low current devices are designed for DC applications, mainly in the railway industry but are also suitable for many other non-intrusive monitoring applications. Outputs are the industry 4-20mA instantaneous with the option of having threshold detection with volt free relay contacts.
Moving onto to measuring ranges of 30A or 300A with a resolution of 1mA these units use the successfully proven Closed Loop Hall Effect Technology. The devices have an instantaneous output either with respect to zero. An option for the 30A range is to have a single sided 12V supply and the output referenced around 4.5V. Once again this is in the same package mentioned above. Designed for industrial applications these devices benefit from a robust design.
For higher current measurements of 500A and 1000A the low power consumption Open Loop Hall Effect technology is used. These units are available to an instantaneous voltage output or a true rms 4-20mA signal. By using this technology, high current can be measured without the need for large power supplies.
The mechanical package for these transducers has been designed to withstand industrial and railway shock and vibration requirements. The case material is UL 94-VO with twin locking arrangements for the opening mechanism to ensure the devices cannot be opened by mistake which may lead to erroneous readings. The latest quality techniques have been used in the development of these units to ensure longevity in the application.
