PASS/START-PROF provides comprehensive pipe stress, flexibility, stability, and fatigue strength analysis with related sizing calculations according to international and national codes and standards.
First introduced in 1965, PASS/START-PROF combines a highly efficient solver, powerful analysis features, a user friendly GUI, an intuitive 3D graphical pre/post-processor, and a detailed help system with embedded intelligence from generations of piping design experts.
PASS/START-PROF offers many functions that make piping model creation very quick including: group editing, quick loop addition, node point renumbering, and spring data application. PASS/START-PROF can import piping models ready for analysis from AVEVA PDMS and E3D, Caesar II, and PCF formats. Data can also be exchanged within the PASS suite and with a large spectrum of general and special purpose CAD and CAE software tools.
PASS/EQUIP provides strength and stability analysis for horizontal and vertical vessels, columns, storage tanks, as well as shell, tube, and air-cooled heat exchangers under static and seismic loads in order to evaluate bearing strength. PASS/EQUIP also provides finite element analysis of vessel nozzles for the purpose of estimating their stress, stiffness, and allowable loads.
PASS/EQUIP provides the ultimate in usability by “regular” engineers allowing them to focus on the equipment design. The user defines the equipment type, geometrical adjectives, material of the vessel components, type and allocation of supports, test type, and loading rates. Selection of vessel elements and materials is made from the vast databases, which can be updated by the user.
3D graphic display of equipment geometry is provided with the possibility of editing the color of separate elements or the whole model, with views to make it possible to see internal elements. Powerful 3D modeling opportunities also support export to various CAD formats, so the user could continue work on vessel design in his favorite CAD environment.
PASS/HYDROSYSTEM provides diameter selection, heat and hydraulic analysis of steady state and transient flow in piping systems of any complexity, including networks with loops. It also covers the most dangerous type of transitional flow related to liquid surge (water-hammer), multiphase flow analysis (including settling slurries flow), and flow assurance calculations (including severe slugging and gas hydrate formation prediction), and calculates unbalanced forces for piping stress analysis.
